About

X-Men: Destiny is an action role-playing video game based on the X-Men comic book series. It was developed by Silicon Knights. Written by Mike Carey, the writer of the X-Men: Legacy comic book series, it was first published and released by Activision for the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii consoles. Along with many other games published by Activision that had used a Marvel license, X-Men: Destiny was de-listed and subsequently removed from all digital storefronts on January 1, 2014. The game and another game, Too Human, were recalled, and had their unsold copies destroyed due to legal issues between Silicon Knights and Epic Games over the games' use of Unreal Engine 3 code.

Storyline

In a San Francisco divided into separate human and mutant districts by rising conflict, the story begins at a peace rally held in memory of the recently deceased Professor X. The player takes on the role of one of three brand-new mutants, Aimi Yoshida, Adrian Luca, or Grant Alexander, whose latent powers suddenly awaken when the rally is attacked by the Purifiers, an anti-mutant extremist group that has begun abducting mutants rather than killing them. Forced to fight back and protect the civilians caught in the chaos, the young mutant soon crosses paths with both the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants. As the crisis deepens, the choices the player makes will determine which side they stand with and which mutants become their allies or enemies.
