About

Pokemon Silver is a role-playing game played from a top-down perspective, in which the player explores the world, catches wild creatures called Pokemon, and trains them through turn-based battles. Set in the Johto region, it continues the core loop of building a team, earning Gym Badges, and completing the Pokedex by capturing, evolving, and trading creatures. This entry introduced 100 new Pokemon along with additions such as a real-time internal clock that affects certain events, Pokemon breeding, held items, and two new creature types. It supports linking with other games in the series to trade and battle.

Storyline

In Pokemon Silver, the player is a young Trainer starting out in the Johto region. After receiving a first partner Pokemon from the local researcher Professor Elm, the player sets out to travel across Johto, catching and training Pokemon while working toward the eight Gym Badges needed to challenge the region's strongest Trainers. Along the way, the player is repeatedly tested by a mysterious rival who took one of Professor Elm's other Pokemon, and encounters the criminal group Team Rocket as it tries to regroup and return to its former activities. The journey unfolds across towns, routes, caves, and seas filled with wild Pokemon to discover.
