Fire Emblem Fates is split into three story paths. Birthright is one of the two base stories, the other being Conquest. The other story path can be bought digitally at a discount through the in-game store. The third story path is Revelation, a DLC that was released later. You need to be have completed Chapter 6 in either game to access the other stories and DLC. Birthright is the easier path as it has the ability to use scouting missions to grind experience and money and simpler mission objectives.

Storyline

This chapter of Fire Emblem Fates follows Corrin, a young royal torn between two warring kingdoms. Born into the peaceful, light-embracing realm of Hoshido but captured and raised as a beloved member of the shadowy kingdom of Nohr, Corrin has known only their adoptive family and their commanding king, Garon. When Corrin is sent on a mission that erupts into violence, they are captured by Hoshidan forces and reunited with the blood relatives they never knew, learning the truth of their heritage. Blessed with the rare power to transform into a dragon and entrusted with a legendary blade, Corrin is thrust to the center of an escalating war between the two nations. In this path, Corrin casts their lot with Hoshido, their birth family, and takes up arms to defend the kingdom against Nohr's relentless invasion, even as it means turning against the family that raised them.
